However a better solution would probably be to configure the mac environment to launch directly into a specific game or app, which you would then control through a more controller-friendly interface. (Steam Controller's touchpad is a bit nicer for mouse movement than a stick though.) I am sure something similar could be set up with any controller for any mouse-driven environment with the proper software. I can't speak for Macintosh but Steam Controller has a rather easy to use mouse control mode built-in which is intended for use between games (or even for general desktop usage) if you are not using the controller-friendly Big Picture mode (which is the recommended way).

If the program has full controller support (which you also may need to enable in the program setup, as well as DOSBox config) you don't need a keyboard once you have this set up. You can instruct it, via command line or config file, to launch a program and exit once the program exits.
